Fire Studies: Bright And Edgy

Bright and Edgy is one part of an ongoing series that I have decided to call Fire Studies. They are pictures of fire that have been done with camera motion blur in black and white. There is no digital manipulation of this series, other than dust spotting, as fire gives off ash which has a tendency to land on my camera lens.

 

To me Bright and Edgy are photographs of fire that give an uneasy feeling, are overpowering at first glance, or have a lot of ‘action’ in the photographs. Some of the photographs are just at an odd angle, very high contrast, or seem to represent something frightening. They give off a different feeling than the Streaks series, which are softer images, and have a personality of their own.
